Divorce has become a major part of our society and affects many people every year. In some instances of divorce, families have been torn apart leaving children stuck in the middle of conflict. This is where children start lashing out at their parents and everyone around them and it is because they are hurt and out of their comfort zone. One cannot forget about the children that divorce affects in a negative way. However, this is not always the case. There are children of divorce that get through it relatively calmly. However, one must keep in mind that divorce is not always the answer. If there is a marriage that has only minor and easily remedied issues then they should try to reach a compromise. Married couples facing†¦show more content†¦In an interview conducted by Agnieszka Tennant in â€Å"Christianity Today†, Elizabeth Marquardt, author of â€Å"In Between Two Worlds: The Inner Lives of Children of Divorce†, stated that only about one-third of di vorces end high-conflict marriages, â€Å"most marriages ending in divorce,† says Marquardt, â€Å" are low-conflict and look a lot like the ones that are staying together.† She also believes that if after divorce you can cooperate with your ex-spouse and get along than you probably could have resolved the issues before they became your ex-spouse. While this may be true for some families, others may have small issues but just cannot work past them while staying together. Secondly, if a couple decides to divorce, the family may function better separated than together. There are certainly situations where divorce is not the only option, but if a couple has tried every other alternative then the only option left is divorce. There are children whose parents try to suffer through staying married but eventually wind up divorced. In some ways divorce could be the better alternative than staying together and teaching the children that that is how a marriage is supposed t o be or that is how adults are supposed to act.
